IBRAM RECEIVES SYMBOL THAT OFFICIALIZES BRAZIL AS THE HOST NATION OF THE 2016 WMC

The Oil Lamp that travels around all the events' editions is already at the IBRAM headquarters, in Brasília, DF. The next country to receive it, after the 2016 edition, will be Kazakhstan.

Last week, the Brazilian Mining Association (IBRAM – www.ibram.org.br), CEO, José Fernando Coura, received the oil lamp that is the symbol of the World Mining Congress (WMC) and that officializes Brazil as the host nation. During the 23rd edition, held in Canada, a previous symbolic ceremony had already been carried out, in which the President of WMC 2013, Prof. Ferri Hassani and the President of WMC, Prof. Jozef Dubinski passed on the symbolic oil lamp to IBRAM's Director of Environmental Affairs, Rinaldo Mancin.

The oil lamp symbolizes the granting of the right to organize the WMC and was given to IBRAM, which will be in charge of realizing the Brazilian edition, in October 2016. This action is similar to that carried out in the Olympic Games, when the host nation is confirmed.

Brazil won in 2012 the right to host in 2016 the 24th edition of the World Mining Congress, during the 92nd meeting of the International Organizing Committee (IOC), responsible for the WMC. IBRAM was in charge of defending Brazil's candidacy after articulating with the Brazilian government, sectoral entities and mining companies.

IBRAM will organize and promote the event, to be held in the city of Rio de Janeiro. The WCM is one of the most traditional and important international events of the mining sector and has been realized since 1958.
